#KOLLERISM – hyperrealistic New Pop Art

Helmut Koller is best known for his colorful and expressive images of animals, which now enjoy prestige and recognition throughout Europe, America, Asia and Africa.
After successfully completing his training as a photographer, Helmut Koller worked as an official photographer for the Vienna State Opera.

For seven years he photographed celebrities such as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Leonard Bernstein and Rudolf Nurejev. During this time, Helmut Koller created his first book, WOMEN OVER 30, which was followed by two more books: ELEKTRA, about the film production of the Richard Strauss opera, and OPERA LIVE.

In 1982 the artist moved to the USA. In 1987, with the collection of paintings Homage to Egon Schiele, the transition from photography to painting took place. The artist first turned to historical portraits of Native Americans.

Since the beginning of 1997 Koller has been working on a color-intensive animal series. In the summer of 1998, the first exhibition with the new works took place at the Suppan Gallery in Vienna. Following this, the Galleria di Sorrento at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas presented the hyper-realistic New Pop animal painting in 1999.

Until 2017, Galerie Dumonteil in Paris, Shanghai and New York represented Koller’s artworks and exhibited his paintings at international art fairs.
Meanwhile, the bright vibrant and colorful animal series appeals to collectors around the world.
