ARTIST

Anna Goschin

Anna Goschin (*near Trier) studied fashion design with Professor Erich Krämer and Free Painting at the Europäische Kunstakademie in Trier. In her large-scale paintings, the artist devotes herself to the expressive and colourful depiction of the female body in all its facets, often exploring themes such as identity and self-portraiture. Her lively and sensual works are to be understood as sources of energy, generated by dynamic and powerful brushwork and a skilful composition of colours and figures.

Goschin’s work process begins with the selection and combination of colours to create the desired atmosphere. For the artist, colour is the essential element that forms the emotional and aesthetic basis of her works. Through the synthesis of different painting techniques, such as impasto or glazing colour application and pouring, an abstract image is created that can stand on its own. Goschin then lends her works an additional dimension by placing depictions of self-confident and powerful female bodies, based on her nude sketches, as central elements on the previously created background. In this way, she gives her abstract, colouristic works a figurative character and yet leaves the viewer room for a personal reference and their own interpretations.

“Color is power and freedom. Figure is life and soul. […] If even a small spark of this positive energy, this power and dynamism jumps over to the viewer, my work is successful.”

– Anna Goschin

Anna Goschin’s nude drawings are created in direct dialogue with the nude model. Her figurative sketches are snapshots of the model often moving or dancing to music. The relationship with the model and her aura are decisive for the success of her works. She creates aesthetic images of women with a positive aura that embody sensuality and energy. She uses brushes, reed pens and Japanese ink mixed with water in varying concentrations. The sketches resulting from her body studies later serve as the basis for her large-format paintings, but retain their independence through her free, dynamic strokes. Her confident handling of the line enables a skilful interplay of graphic and painterly elements, which is based on her many years of experience in studying the nude.

Goschin lives and works in Frankfurt am Main and Mallorca. Her works have been shown in numerous group exhibitions together with works by Alex Katz and Markus Lüppertz, as well as in solo exhibitions in Germany and abroad.

BIOGRAPHY

Anna Goschin (* Trier) studied fashion design at the Trier University of Applied Sciences with Prof. Anita Dixius-Sonjé and Erich Krämer, professor of free painting and life drawing, founder of the European Academy of Fine Arts in Trier, where she completed her studies as a fashion designer. During her professional career as a fashion designer, Goschin held senior positions responsible for the conception and creation of well-known collections at home and abroad, including the ready-to-wear collection by the Parisian couturier Louis Féraud.

After the birth of her two children, she started a second degree in painting at the European Academy of Fine Arts in Trier – building on her studies and her successful career as a fashion designer. After working as an artist for over 10 years, she followed a call back to a responsible position in the fashion world. At the same time, she continued her artistic career. Since 2020, she has worked exclusively as an artist. Anna Goschin lives and works in Frankfurt am Main and Mallorca. Her work has been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Germany and abroad.
