To mark the start of the season for Frankfurt galleries, Galerie Barbara von Stechow is presenting the solo exhibition “Icons and Illusions” featuring works by renowned pop art artist Heiner Meyer. A former student of Salvador Dalí, Meyer is now one of the most important representatives of German pop art. His works reflect the tension between consumption and cult, between promise and reality. In this context, he makes use of iconic motifs from popular culture, removing them from their original context and transferring them into a new, multi-layered space of meaning. His works oscillate between a glossy surface and a subversive undertone. An exhibition that allows us to see the familiar in a new light.
